Dear Roy,
Please see the answers to your questions below:

Question 1…
Will Markley Cove be destroyed as is what has happened to the other resorts?

We are presently attempting to reach an agreement with the ownership of Markley Cove to take possession of the Concession by late March of 2012.
If an agreement can be reached with Markley Cove the existing improvements, including the wets slips, will remain pending upgrades and or total removal as appropriate.

Question 2…
Will I be able to keep my slip when Pensus assumes control of the resort now known as Markley Cove?

Yes you will if we reach an agreement with Markley Cove.
Failing that our understanding is that Markely Cove will have to vacate all of the slips and have all slips and other structures removed from the Concession by April of 2013.

If we do not reach an agreement with Markley Cove our plan is to start installation of slips at Lupine in June. We could accommodate you at Lupine until April of 2013 when we will start slip installations at Markley if that is a location you prefer. We do have to receive final rate approvals from Reclamation and Corps of Engineers permits before we install slips but expect to receive both within 60 days.

Question 3…
What, if anything, will Pensus do for the current slip holders at Markley Cove? Possible move to a new Pensus marina?

Yes we will accommodate you at another location as soon as we have slips available. We will be posting updates on the website on a regular basis.

Question 4…
What are the REALISTIC Pensus plans for future boating facilities at Lake Berryessa? Everything that I have read as to the “Timing” of new facilities at Lake Berryessa includes no “Timing”.

The process of obtaining approvals has been much more tedious and time consuming than anticipated. Pensus had hoped to be installing slips by late 2010 and lodging units in 2011. Unfortunately we have not be allowed to do so which has been very expensive for our company.

I am sure that the folks at Pensus would like my slip payment as much as Markley Cove.

We would love your slip payment and are frustrated that we have not been able to proceed.

WE slip holders are left in the dark. Enlighten us, please.

This is the best information we can provide at present.

Do I stay at Markley Cove, move to Pleasure Cove, or take my boat to Lake Shasta?

We sincerely hope that you do not leave the lake. We are working on all of the challenges and feel that we should be able to meet the suggested schedule for slip installations. If you have not submitted your name to our waiting list please do so. In the near future we hope to be able to send out contracts and provide assurances.

Please answer my questions.

Hopefully we have done so to your satisfaction. We fully understand your frustration and concern as to where you will be able to store your boat. Stand by for more specifics soon.

I have asked these questions to the Bureau of Reclamation. They will not answer these questions, but…they are “sorry for the inconvenience.”

Thank you for your interest and questions. We will be nothing without a satisfied clientele and we hope to soon provide what you need.

Sincerely,
Berryessa Shores

We do not intend to issue annual passes in 2012. There has been significant abuse (passes being used for multiple boats and owners) which has caused a great deal of work and expense.

Anyone who wishes to store their boat in dry storage will not charged any launch fees. Our dry storage rate in the fenced yard is $4 per foot so $80 for a 20 foot boat. If one launches 3 times in a month it is effectively a breakeven plus towing costs and hassle are mitigated.

Hi Brenda,
That is not the plan for Berryessa Shores. There will always be enough space for a serene camping experience, where you are not overshadowed by the lake lodging. The lodging that we are planning to create will be accessible to everyone, no matter what your price range, from cozy cabins, to yes, possibly a four star lodging option.

The higher end lodging will be very humble and will not take away from the natural beauty of the lake in any way. It will be very minor.

What we are trying to do is allow absolutely everyone to experience the lake, no matter what your budget may be.

The marinas and lodging are also all going to be constructed in the most sustainable way possible, with maximum efficiency in terms of water, waste, energy use and biodiversity.

If you take a look at the concept sketches on the ‘resorts’ page, you’ll see that the structures will be designed to blend into the landscape, with materials that compliment the beautiful Berryessa environment.

Robert,
We will be sure to consider this. Although rest assured that we have the very best engineers and designers working on the construction of the marinas. We will pass this information on to our engineers today.

No worries Dennicio,
We will be sure to provide the whole spectrum of options. From camping under the stars, to small cozy cabins to more spacious, upscale lodges. From small snack shops to finer dining experiences near the shore. There will be many choices for all to explore!

Sorry for carrying on...

My epic weekend at Chapparal cove would include RV camping at present RV locations with the boat slip/docks within a short walkable distance.

...and sheltered from wind and waves.

Looking at the proposed map for Chapparal cove, I noticed Pensus plans to locate the Marina boat slips on the west side of Knoxville road.
This is not a good idea, the prevailing winds pick up from the west to east and the wind and water gets pretty rough on that side of the park.
The boats and docks would get pretty beat up.
I've been camping at Chapparal cove (Putah creek) for over 20 years, and the slips/docks were always on the east side of the park down by the old hotel.
I highly suggest putting the slips/docks back where they were.
Please consider this.

And then what about Lupine Shores, we have been told can't even get yearly passes to get into the area.... is that still the case. Ours expires in March.

PLEASE bring in higher end lodging and attract an affluent clientele. The Lake is a jewel that has historically been trashed by partiers and people seeking trouble. I hope we have seen an end broken bottle on shore and Memorial Day gang fights. I long for a weekend on the lake where I can find peace on the Lake, enjoy a nice meal at a restaurant and choose whether I want to camp or sleep in a cozy bed.
